Arliene Gertrude Prestegord, age 85, of Burnsville, MN, died Friday, January 3, 2020, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville.
Arliene Gertrude Braget was born July 2, 1934, near Twin Valley, MN, the daughter of Otto and Florence (Thompson) Braget in Fossum Township, east of Twin Valley. She was raised on the family farm and attended country school. Arliene later graduated from Twin Valley High School. As a young lady, she worked in Fargo for a year and then moved to South St. Paul with friends. On August 13, 1955, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Prestegord at the Wild Rice Lutheran Church, rural Twin Valley. The young couple were blessed with three children and lived in southern St. Paul, MN, until 1977. Following Kenneth's retirement, the couple made their home in Twin Valley. For 14 years, Arliene and Kenneth spent their winters in Arizona, time that they both treasured. In 2001, Arliene and Kenneth returned to the Twin Cities and took up residency in a senior complex. On October 30, 2002, Kenneth passed away. Arliene continued to live in their apartment in Burnsville.
Arliene was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Florence Braget; her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Vicky Koenke; brothers, Orlin Braget, Eugene Braget, and Dennis Braget. Arliene is survived by one daughter, Pamela Prestegord; one son, Kevin (Leslie) Prestegord; 3 granddaughters; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Thompson; sister-in-law, Alma Christenson; brother-in-law, Peter Bartlette; and many nieces and nephews.
Arliene was very passionate about playing piano, singing, cooking and baking, sharing her passion with anyone she came across. She would often spend time going to senior events, playing bingo, playing cards and other games with friends. Her most cherished memories were time spent with her loved ones at family reunions, holidays, and birthdays. Arliene loved her family and friends more than anything else and always looked forward to sharing time with them. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
