Arlene Sauck, 72, of Erskine, MN, formerly Twin Valley, MN, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine.
Arlene Myrna Horn was born January 17, 1942, the daughter of Alfred and Mable (Stene) Horn near Twin Valley where she was raised. Arlene graduated from Twin Valley High School and on November 4, 1961, she was united in marriage to Alfred Sauck. The couple made their first home in Grandin, ND then to Bovey, MN and in the early 1980's, they moved to Bemidji, MN. For the one year they lived there, Arlene and Alfred owned and operated The Other Place Bar. For a time they lived in Fargo, ND, before returning to the Twin Valley community in the late 1980's. Arlene worked several jobs, often in caregiving positions. She spent many years babysitting and working in the nursing home. Arlene also worked in a bakery for a while. In the late 1990's, Arlene moved to Fosston, MN, where she lived until moving to Dixon, IL. From 2006 until 2010, Arlene made her home in Fergus Falls until moving to Hawley, MN. In 2012, she relocated to Erskine where she lived until the time of her death.
Arlene was a wonderful cook and was known for her Norwegian treats. She loved to celebrate the holidays and spent many hours decorating for festivities. Arlene also liked to craft and document family photos in detailed albums. Of course, she was always excited to score a deal at a rummage sale. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, especially tending to her roses. Arlene had a special place in her heart for animals and cherished all of her pets.
