Noll
Oct 8, 1929 — Apr 8, 2019
Mahnomen
Arlene Noll, age 89, of Mahnomen, MN, died Monday, April 8, 2019, at the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home, Mahnomen, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Arlene Mae Evenson was born in Brandon, MN, on October 8, 1929, the daughter of John and Bertha (Johnson) Evenson. As a toddler, her family moved to the Fosston, MN, area where she attended school. She graduated from Fosston High School with the class of 1949. Following graduation, Arlene worked for Jean Young in Ada, MN, for a time before she was united in marriage to Ervin Noll on January 16, 1952 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Days later, Ervin was inducted into the US Army and the young couple made their home in Texas. Following Ervin's honorable discharge in 1954, they returned to the Mahnomen area and were blessed with the birth of their son, Dale. In 1959, their family moved to Pembina Township to live and would later move to the farm west of Mahnomen in 1967. In addition to helping with the day to day chores on the farm, Arlene also worked at the Red Apple Café in Mahnomen for a time span of 22+ years. Ervin died in June of 1993 and Arlene remained on the farm until she moved to town in the Spring of 1997. She had made her home at the nursing home since February 2010 when her health began to decline.
Arlene was a long-time member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Neighborhood Birthday Club and the Mahnomen American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing embroidery and watching the Price is Right, Lawrence Welk Show and you knew better to call during her favorite, The Young and the Restless! Arlene adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She never missed a band concert, sporting event or any other activity the girls participated in. Sunday afternoons were also a special time as Arlene was known to have wonderful fried chicken dinners with homemade pies for the family. She will be greatly missed but live on in the hearts of many.
Arlene is survived by her son, Dale (Linda) Noll of Mahnomen; two granddaughters, Allison (Dustin) Thompson of Ada, MN, and Andrea (Alyson Moen) Noll of Moorhead, MN; great-granddaughter, Hayden; one sister, Bonnie (Tom) Swanson of Eden Prairie, MN, brother-in-law, Marty (Darlene) Noll of St. Louis Park, MN; sisters-in-law: Elaine Evenson of Hillsboro, ND, Elaine Noll and Peggy Noll, both of Mahnomen and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin; grandson, Andrew; brothers and sisters-in-law: Harvey Evenson, Bernard (Alyce) Evenson, Clifford (Betty) Evenson, Orvin (Marilyn) Evenson; sister in-law, Gladys (Robert) Chisholm and brother-in-law, Dick Noll.
