Arlene Holm's Obituary
Arlene Buretta-Holm, age 69, of Ulen, Minnesota, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, in MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, North Dakota.
Arlene Burnside was born May 5, 1940, the daughter of John and Opal (Reidberger) Burnside in Hawley, Minnesota. She grew upon a farm north of Hawley and attended school in Hitterdal, Minnesota, graduating with the class of 1958. Arlene was united in marriage to Neil Buretta at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Park in 1959. The couple made their home in Lake Park until 1963 when they moved to Lynnwood, Washington. In 1981, Arlene and Neil moved back to the area, and made their home in Ulen. Neil died in 1992 and Arlene continued to live in Ulen. In 1995, Arlene married Glen Holm in Ulen. Glen and Arlene made their home in Borup, Minnesota. Arlene moved to Ulen in October of 2008 where she resided until the time of her death.
Some of Arlene's favorite past times included reading, as well as tending her vegetable and flower gardens. She also enjoyed the fall when she could spend time canning her produce.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Glen of Borup, MN; daughters, Jannelle Buretta of Ada, MN and Karen Buretta of Felton, MN; sons, Peter (Sherie) Buretta of Everet, WA, Steve Buretta of Helena, OK, Gary (Nancy) Buretta of Ulen, MN and Scott Buretta of Moorhead, MN; sisters, Marlys Hogetvedt of Brainerd, MN and Julie (Arvin) Syverson of Ulen, MN; brothers, Gary (Donna) Burnside of Hawley, MN, Roger (Char) Burnside of Fargo, ND, Kenny (Diane) Burnside of Ulen, MN and Andy Burnside of Little Falls, MN; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:00AM at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Park, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Friday. Fr. Bob LaPlante will serve as celebrant with Deb Binde serving as pianist and Monica Winter serving as vocalist. Pallbearers will be Jesse Burnside, Darcie Burnside, Robbie Burnside, Adam Burnside, Roy Chounard and Jesse Hogetvedt.
Interment will be in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Lake Park.
