Obituary

Aric Michael RedHorse, 33, of Detroit Lakes, MN, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024.  He departed peacefully while sightseeing in Wyoming.

Aric was born September 16, 1990, in Detroit Lakes, MN, the son of Julie Bevins and Jess RedHorse.  Growing up, he attended school in Waubun and graduated with the Class of 2009.  After high school, Aric entered the workforce and spent some time dealing Blackjack at the Shooting Star Casino.  After taking classes at Minnesota State Community and Technical College to further his education and skills in carpentry, masonry and building construction, he worked at Ojibwe Building Supplies and more recently, Dynamic Homes in Detroit Lakes until his health began to deteriorate.

From an early age, Aric had a great love for nature and all its activities.  He spent countless hours with his uncles: Bug, Josh and Izaak, hunting, fishing, ricing and gathering berries.  He loved spending time with all of them and looked to them for guidance and support.  When he wasn't outdoors, Aric enjoyed playing video games and anything family oriented, especially time with his children.  Aric was proud of his heritage and eagerly passed on those traditions to his children.  He shared with them the art of beading, making dream catchers and many other traditional customs.  He was also a great cook and loved cooking for family and friends alike.

Aric and his wife, Erica, have spent the past several years in Detroit Lakes raising their family of five.  Aric really was a "Jack of all Trades" kinda guy and would do whatever he needed to provide for his family.  He was always doing selfless acts for the betterment of his family.  He had an endless love for family, even if some days it was tough love, it was still LOVE.  Aric was a bit rough around the edges but very kindhearted and generous.  He would never complain and was always putting others before himself even though he had some dark days and health battles of his own.  He gave it his all but when his all wasn't enough, he gave it to a greater power.  One of his final wishes was to visit Devil's Tower in Wyoming, which he accomplished and then peacefully departed this life.

Aric leaves behind his wife, Erica; their children: Karleon, Brennan, Aubrey, Aric Jr. and Gavin; his mother, Julie (James Beaulieu) Bevins; his father, Jess (Michelle) RedHorse; grandpas, Mike Bray and Curt Bevins; grandma, Betty RedHorse; sister, Alisa Bevins; brother, Damon Bevins; in-laws, Ben and Jodi Bement; nephews, Donnie St. Clair and Myles Thompson; niece Joeley Bement; many aunts and uncles which include special great uncle, Floyd "Bug" Person, great aunt, Aurelia "Zing" Brown, uncles, Josh Bevins and Izaak Bray; aunt, Lisa Bray and of course his "luzzin" Estevon Dominguez. He is also survived by many from the Bement, Bray, Dominguez, Bevins, Brown, RedHorse and Hanks Families and all those he considered nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernon and Rose Weaver; grandma, Amelia "Bitsy" Bray; grandpa, Courtney RedHorse; aunts, Donna "Niche" RedHorse and Judy "Sis" Libby-Kinslow; and special cousins: Paige Brown, Kelsey Borah and Jamie "Honker" Bevins Jr.

Erica would like to extend a special Thank You to the Devil's Tower Park Rangers, the paramedics, Crook County Law Enforcement, Deputy Coroner, Clarine Knighten and the entire community of Sundance who helped out in anyway at the time of Aric's death.

Blessed be the memory of Aric Michael RedHorse.
