Ardith Tomek, age 89, of Twin Valley, MN died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Ardith Arlene Biggers was born August 23, 1923 the daughter of Ira and Ella (Janson) Biggers in Airlie, MN. As a youngster, Ardith moved with her family to Twin Valley in 1927 where she grew up and attended school. On February 21, 1943 Ardith was united in marriage to Royal Roshiem. Ardith lived in Twin Valley while Royal was serving his country during WWII; tragically he died in March of 1945 while in the service. She continued to live in Twin Valley and was employed at Fairway Grocery Store for several years. On June 5, 1954 Ardith married Jim Tomek at St. John's Lutheran Church near Ada, MN. They lived in several locations while Jim worked construction in area states, finally settling in Gillette, WY. In November of 1976, Jim died in a car accident and about a year later, Ardith returned to Twin Valley. In 1988, she moved into the Valley Pines Apartments where she resided until the time of her death.
Ardith enjoyed visiting and always looked forward to Senior Citizen gatherings at Valley Pines. She also liked to play cards, dice, and penny bingo. Ardith loved to bake and often made treats for family and friends.
Ardith is survived by a step-daughter, Bonnie (Verle) Pierce of Belle Fourche, SD; a sister, Phyllis (Rallen) Zeitner of Omaha, NE; a brother, Willis Biggers of Twin Valley, MN; seven step-grandchildren; 16 step-great grandchildren; eight step-great-great-grandchildren; 14 nephews; one niece and many great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; step-daughter, Delores Lowell; two sisters, Mildred Burnham and Goldie Holtman; one brother, Ira Biggers and a step-grandson, Ryan.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, December 22nd, 2012 at 10:30am in Trinity Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Visitation was Friday, December 21st, from 5-7pm in the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Officiating was Pastor Robert Behling with Myrna Thornton serving as organist. Special music was provided by Harold and Jean Allrich. Pallbearers were Brian Biggers, Kevin Biggers, Dion Biggers, Curtis Burnham, Richard Burnham and Donald Burnham.
Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Twin Valley
