Ardis R. Larson, 85, of Ulen, MN, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in Sanford Health, Fargo.
Ardis Ostenvik was born December 25, 1927 near Flom, MN, the daughter of Rasmus and Alma (Jellum) Ostenvik. She grew up and attended school in Ulen. Following her high school graduation in 1946, Ardis worked as a waitress in Ulen.
On May 17, 1947 Ardis was united in marriage to Oliver Larson in Ulen. The couple made their home near Ulen and began a family. In addition to taking care of their children, Ardis helped Oliver with the day to day chores of the farm. For many years, she was also the friendly "Avon Lady". Later, Ardis worked for Marie Tangen at the café. Upon retirement, Oliver and Ardis moved into Ulen. Oliver died in June of 1989 and Ardis remained in her home until about five years ago when she moved into her apartment.
Over the years, Ardis loved to go fishing and spend time with family at Snyder Lake. She truly treasured the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren. She also had a passion for crocheting and enjoying working on jigsaw puzzles. Ardis was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She also held membership with the VFW Auxiliary.
Surviving Ardis are her children, Oliver "Ole" (LuAnn) Larson of Lake Park, MN, and Valerie Knutson of Ulen; seven grandchildren: Tyler (Heather) Larson of Detroit Lakes, MN, Brett Larson of Moorhead, MN, Lynn Knutson of Frazee, MN, Tim (Manda) Knutson of Hawley, Jason (Jessica) Knutson also of Hawley, Heidi Carlson of Alice, ND and LaDonna (Paul) Cossette of Medora, ND; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harlow (Gloria) Ostenvik of Watertown, SD and three sisters: Darlene Wasfaret of Ulen, Jane Cramer of Strongville, OH, and Ruby Barquest of Bullhead City, AZ. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oliver; two grandsons, Landon Knutson and Christopher Carlsen; two great-granddaughters, Tori Anne Knutson and Hudsyn Larson; and one great-grandson, Reese Larson.
Memorial Services were held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen. A time of gathering was one hour prior to services at the church.
Inurnment was in West Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen at a later date.
