Ardis Leone Horge, 90, Halstad, MN, died after suffering a stroke, on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.

Ardis Leone was born to Christopher and Hattie (Flom) Brevik on July 29, 1920 at the Ryding home in Twin Valley, MN. She was baptized at Wild Rice Church parsonage by Reverend Opdahl and confirmed at Wild Rice Lutheran Church by Reverend Oscar Nordby. She attended Sunny Hill School and graduated from Twin Valley High School.

Ardis worked as a maid in Crookston, MN. She and Elmer Oliver Horge were married on October 11, 1941, by Reverend Moen at the parsonage in Crookston. Ardis and JoAnn lived with grandmother, Laura Brevik, in Twin Valley while Elmer served in the United States Army. They moved to Halstad in 1953, with their five children. Ardis was a quiet, private person. She babysat over forty children in the community after her six children were in school.
In later years she lost her hearing but still wanted to attend church and senior citizens. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and proudly remembered all of their birth dates. Ardis lived in her own home and cooked and baked for herself. She enjoyed word search puzzles, reading magazines, listening to country music and talking to her kids on the phone. Over the years she volunteered for Halstad Lutheran Church, Halstad Lutheran Memorial Home Auxiliary cart and for the American Legion Auxiliary where she was a member for 55 years.

Ardis is survived by her children: JoAnn Dietrich of Cavalier, ND, Betty Jean (Wally) Oien of Halstad, Karen (Lynn) Johnson of Fargo, ND, Yvonne (Tom) Carlson of Halstad, Wayne (Karen) Horge of Halstad, Debra (Ty) McGinty of Chandler, AZ, her grandchildren, Jason (Jackie Nordstrom) Dietrich, Josie (Alan) Gibson, Zak Oien, Amber Oien, Chris (Jackie) Johnson, Jesse (Mike) Richau, Leah Johnson, Shane (Deb) Carlson, Brock Carlson, Trevor Carlson, Courtney (Jeremy) Anderson, Josh (Nicole) Dahl, Justin Dahl, Rachel McGinty; great grandchildren, Carsten Dietrich, Taylor Gibson, Justin Gibson, Christopher LaMay, Nick LaMay, Abbie Johnson, Noah Johnson, Wally Richau, Villie Richau, Jacob Carlson, Cody Carlson, Austin Carlson, Bailey Carlson, Lexie Carlson, Savanna Carlson, Jacob Dahl, Alisyn Dahl, one brother, Clifton (Dolly) Brevik of Twin Valley, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one brother, Howard Brevik.

Visitation: 5-7PM Sunday with a 6:30PM prayer service at Fredrikson Valley Funeral Home, Halstad, MN.

Burial: Halstad South Cemetery, Halstad, MN.
