Obituary

Ansin Lerud, age 87, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Monday, March 26, 2007, in the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.

Ansin G. Lerud was born October 2, 1919, the son of Julius and Ida (Hanson) Lerud south of Twin Valley. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. Ansin attended school in Twin Valley and farmed with his father until entering the United States Army, serving his country during World War II. He was stationed in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. While in the Army, Ansin served in the medics and the infantry and earned a Purple Heart. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Twin Valley where he continued to farm with his father. After a time, he purchased the family farm, which he operated until 1985. Ansin continued to live there until four years ago when he entered the Twin Valley Living Center, where he had made his home since.

Ansin enjoyed traveling and playing cards, especially pinochle. He was a member of the Flom Lions and the Twin Valley Nesseth-Lien Post #431 of the American Legion.

Ansin is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 29, at 10:00 AM in Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Officiating will be Pastor Charles Bade with Danette Gwin serving as organist and Monica Winter serving as vocalist. Pallbearers will be Duane Thornton, Fred Thornton, Dennis Hoekstra, Lowell Lerud, Dave Gray and Robert Hoekstra. Military honors will be provided by the Twin Valley Nesseth-Lien Post #431 of the American Legion.

Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Thursday.

Burial will be in the Twin Valley Memorial Garden, Twin Valley, Minnesota.
