Anna Mrkvicka, age 90, of Moorhead, Minnesota, formerly Mahnomen, Minnesota, died Friday, October 2, 2009, in Innovis Health, Fargo, North Dakota.
Anna was born December 29, 1918 to William and Alice (Barrett) Ahrentz at Calvin, North Dakota. She grew up in that community and attended school there before moving to Florida to work as a nanny. Anna met and later married Charles Mrkvicka in 1948 at Hansboro, North Dakota. They lived in Rock Lake, Calvin and Maddock, North Dakota before moving the rural Mahnomen, Minnesota area with their young family. In 1974 they moved into Mahnomen where Anna was employed at the Red Apple cafe and also cleaned houses for a number of people. Charlie died in September of 1992. Anna continued to live in Mahnomen until 1994 when she moved to Eventide living Center in Moorhead,. She later moved in with her daughter and her husband, Shirley and Dennis, where she resided for the past five years.
Anna is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Dennis) Bjerken, Moorhead, MN and Alice (Wayne) Lisburg, Twin Valley, MN, three grandchildren, Barb (John) Schellenberg, Scottsdale, AZ, Christie (Shawn) Roux, Ada, MN and Nick Lisburg, Moorhead, MN, four great grandchildren, Parker Ortez, Brady Bjerken, Ceydee Schellenberg, and Morgan Roux.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Bill and one sister-in-law, Eunice Ahrentz and a grandson, Brian Bjerken.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 6th at 2:00pm in the St. Josephs Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a prayer service at 6:30pm in the Anderson Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen, MN. Fr. Raul Perez-Cobo will officiate with Judy Buscher serving as organist and special music provided by Resurrection Choir. Pallbearers will be, Nick Lisburg, Shawn Roux, Marvin Johnson, Mark Rye, Jim Schill and Ken Hovde.
Internment will be the St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Mahnomen, MN
