Anna Kersting, age 97 of Mahnomen, MN, formerly of Waubun, MN, died Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home.
Anna May Adler was born on November 13, 1911 in Detroit Lakes, MN. She was the daughter of John and Matilda (Hamlin) Alder. At a very young age, she moved with her family to the Waubun area, where they purchased a farm in Lake Grove Township. Anna and her family continued to live there until Anna married Norbert Kersting on December 29, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ogema, MN. Following their marriage, Anna and Bert bought the Adler farm, where they lived until Norbert's death in 1991. After his death, Anna moved into Evergreen Apartments in Waubun, and continued to live there until her health failed and she moved into the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home.
Anna was a very good homemaker and was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand when she was needed. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Ogema, beginning with her confirmation. Anna had no children of her own, but had always liked kids. She was a 4-H leader for the Oak Grove Club for 20 years. She was also a member of the Busy Bee's Homemakers group and enjoyed doing crafts. Anna was a kind and loving person and every one that knew her, loved her.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Adler of Longville, MN; many nieces, nephews and extended family of the Kerstings. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norbert; one brother and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 3 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ogema, MN.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 25th from 4-6 pm at the Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home in Mahnomen and continue one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Mahnomen, MN.
