Obituary

Anna Bennefeld, age 94, of Ada, Minnesota, died Friday, November 13, 2009, in Bridges Care Community, Ada.

Anna M. Habben was born September 14, 1915, in Summit Lake Township in southwestern Minnesota, the daughter of George and Anna (Myers) Habben. She moved with her family at the age of three to the Ada, Minnesota community. Anna grew up on the family farm west of Ada and attended country school. As a young woman she helped on the farm and in raising her brothers and sisters. On October 21, 1933, she was united in marriage to Milo "Pat" Bennefeld in the St. Johns Lutheran Church near Ada, Minnesota. They made their home on a farm east of Ada for nearly 60 years. Anna was employed at the Ada Hospital in the housekeeping department for over 20 years. After Pat's death in 1990, Anna continued to live on the farm for one year before moving into Ada. She has been a resident in the Bridges Care Community since July of 2004.

Over the years Anna was an active member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid there. She also enjoyed her gardening and bingo.

Anna is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Elaine Bennefeld, Fargo, ND; two grandchildren, Dr. Michael Bennefeld and Sheri Bennefeld; four great-grandchildren, Michael Jr., Jennifer, Jessica and Kristina; one brother, Leslie (Janet) Habben, Blain, MN, two sisters, Ella Lee, Ada, MN and Lillian Aaneson, Halstad, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pat, two sisters, Doris Syrstad and Goldie Smith, and four brothers, Albert, George, Ben and Pete.

Funeral services was held Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 11:00am in the St. Johns Lutheran Church, rural Ada, MN. Visitation was Tuesday, November 17th from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Anderson Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church. There was be a service held at Bridges Care Community Tuesday at 3:00pm for the staff and residents'.
Pastor Arvid Salvhus will officiate with Lori Salvhus serving as organist. The congregation will sing, "Amazing Grace", "What a Friend we Have in Jesus" and "On Eagles Wings". The Pallbearers will be Lowell Stevens, Dean Bennefeld, James Bennefeld, Kevin Jenson, Dana Smith and Tom Albaugh.

Burial was in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ada.
