Ann
Larson
Mar 5, 1930 — Jul 3, 2018
Ann Marie Larson, 88, passed away July 3, 2018, at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN. Born in rural Hendrum, she was the baby of a family of 15 children born to Anna and Andrew Gordon. The family moved to rural Borup, MN in 1936 and eventually to Moorhead, MN, where she graduated from high school. She attended Concordia College in Moorhead for 1 year before moving to Missoula, MT, for 3 years and then to Minneapolis, MN. Ann's mother died of cancer in 1954 so she moved back to Moorhead to care for her father.
On December 30, 1955, Ann married Graydon Larson of Ada, MN. They lived in town for 6 years before moving out to the farm of Graydon's youth. Together they raised their 3 children, Jason, Sam and Mary.
Ann was often the life of the party. She was a vivacious, loving and kind woman. She loved to play the piano, sing hymns and the occasional country tune. She loved visiting with friends and relatives and spending time at the lakes. Of course any time with children and grandchildren was cherished.
Ann had a strong faith in God and made sure her family all attended Sunday school and church. She was a housewife and mother but also held jobs at the county court house and selling Aflac supplemental insurance. A job at which she was doggedly determined to be successful at and she was.
Ann is survived by her husband, Graydon, children, Jason (Barbara) Larson, Sam (Pam) Larson, Mary (Scott) Stevenson; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Maury Freedman and sister-in-law Myrna Larson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Andrew, 8 brothers: James I, Merrill, Arthur, Chester, Mark, Irving, James II and William; and 6 sisters: Jane, Agnes, Freda, Alice, Clarice and Louise.
Memorials may be sent to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
A very special thanks to all of the staff at the Halstad Living Center for their outstanding care of Ann.
