Ann Klockmann, 98, Ada, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Benedictine Care Community, in Ada.
Ann was born February 21, 1920, in St. Paul MN, to John and Amalia (Treblehorn) Riedel, who were German immigrants from Russia. She spent her childhood in Gaylord, MN, graduating from high school in Winthrop, MN. She attended Mankato Business College after high school and worked at the Shriner's Childrens Hospital and Montgomery Wards, both in St. Paul, MN.
Ann was united in marriage to Raymond Klockmann on March 20, 1943, in Denver, CO. They moved to a farm near Gary, MN in 1951. While living on the farm, Ann cared for nearly a 1000 laying hens, sold eggs, and butchered chickens. In 1966, they moved to a rural home near Ada. Ann worked in the kitchen at the Ada Municipal Hospital until she retired in 1985. After retiring Raymond and Ann enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona.
Ann was an accomplished seamstress, who made all her children's clothing. She also crocheted afghans, pieced quilts and made many dolls and toys for her grandchildren. Ann liked to garden, canned all her garden vegetables, and made her special pickle relish. She was especially proud of her lawn which she mowed with a push mower until she was 85 years old. She was a wonderful cook and baked all kinds of bread, buns, cookies, and cakes.
Ann was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She shared her knowledge and skills by being a leader while her children were involved in 4-H. Ann became a resident of the Benedictine Care Community in 2007.
Survivors include her daughters: Dorothy (William) Tilton, Gainesville, FL; Kathleen (Glen) Brandt, Ada, MN; Marjorie Klockmann (Ken Helland), Fargo, ND; son: Richard (Peggy) Klockmann, Grand Forks, ND; 11 grandchildren, April Goddard, Donna Hardy, Jennifer Strukel, Daniel Brandt, Jeff Carl, Travis Klockmann, Matthew Klockmann, Kimberly Lange, Heidi Ristow, Tom Jamison, and Charles Jamison; 15 great grandchildren; son-in-law: Dellis Lange, Anoka, MN; sisters: Marie Carlson, Winthrop, MN; Margaret Jungclaus, Lake Lillian, MN; brother: Fred Riedel, Hot Springs, SD; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond in 2010; daughter Shirley Lange, in 2010; sister, Katherine Solmonson; brothers, John, Peter, Benjamin, Henry, Edward, William and George.
Funeral: 2:00PM Saturday, June 30, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Ada, MN.
Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.
Burial: St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ada, MN.
