Obituary

Alvina Klinkhammer, 81, of Mahnomen, MN, died Wednesday, April 09, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN, due to complications after surgery.

Alvina Ann Liebl was born to Anton and Mary (Grosam) Liebl on April 19, 1926. She grew up near Gary, MN, and graduated from Mahnomen High School. In 1946, Alvina married Jerome "Romie" Klinkhammer and they made their home east of Mahnomen. They raised seven children. Alvina worked at the Flowing Well Tavern that they owned and operated until 1978. She babysat grandchildren part-time and also worked part-time at the Mahnomen Public School.

Alvina was a member of the Christian Mothers Society and a past Circle group leader in St. Joseph's C.C.G. She was very involved in her grandchildren's lives and truly enjoyed going to the many activities they participated in. Alvina loved the trips and vacations she took with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all.

Alvina is survived by three sons: Jerome "Sonny" Jr. (Linda) of Lengby, MN, Steve (Marlene) of Mahnomen, and Glen (Melanie) of Fargo, ND; three daughters: Mary (Glen) Monahan of Richfield, MN, Sharon (Dean) Burkman of Mahnomen, and Sandy (Joe) Olson of Moorhead; 17 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three nephews, and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; one son, Thomas; one brother, Wilfred; and her parents.
