Allan Matson, age 55, of Twin Valley, MN, died on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, as a result of a car accident.

Allan Oscar Matson was born in Ada, MN, to Gifford and Cora (Gorder) Matson on July 25, 1951. Allan attended school in Gary, MN, graduating with the class of 1969. He then attended MSUM and, in 1974, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Education. In 1971, he joined the Minnesota National Guard where he served for six years as a medic. On August 5, 1972, Allan married Susan Schaumburg of Mahnomen, MN. Allan taught industrial education for five years at the Career Education Center in Audubon, MN, and was currently employed at Norman County East High School in Twin Valley. He taught construction occupation, welding, computer-aided drafting, and technology. This year Allan's construction occupation students completed their 25th house. Allan was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley, serving on the church council as well as the choir. Allan enjoyed singing, especially 60's and 70's music. He was also a member of the Twin Valley Lions club where he served as secretary and treasurer. He loved fishing with his children and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. He also loved to watch and read murder mysteries and enjoyed working on the family farm. Allan was a gifted woodworker and took great pleasure in doing carpentry projects for family and friends.

Allan's greatest joy in life was his three children and three grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them, always a positive and encouraging influence in their lives. He was a dedicated educator and active member of the community. He will be deeply missed by all of his family, students, and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan of Twin Valley; one daughter Jessica (Rick) Jacobson of Moorhead, MN; two sons, Andrew (April) of Fargo, and Nathan (Angela Hansen) of St. Paul; his three grandchildren, Ariel, Rickey, and Allison Jacobson, all of Moorhead; his two brothers, Donald and David, both of Gary; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Allan was accompanied in death by his mother, Cora, and was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, and several aunts and uncles. Allan Matson, age 55, of Twin Valley, MN, died on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, as a result of a car accident.

Funeral services was held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 31, 2006, at the Norman County East High School Gymnasium in Twin Valley. Pastor Charles Bade officiated with Steve Radniecki delivering a special message. Alden Anderson and Randy Degerness provided music. Serving as pallbearers were Rodney Schaumburg, Ben Schaumburg, Jim Todahl, Ron Thorsrud, Steve Radniecki, and David Hansen. All of the former and present staff of NCE School served as honorary bearers.

A joint visitation for Allan and Cora took place from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM, with a Prayer Service beginning at 5:00 PM, on Sunday, July 30, at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. Interment took place at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Twin Valley.
