Allan F. Boreen, age 72, of rural Twin Valley, MN, died on Monday, October 8, 2018 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Allan Francis Boreen was born on February 5, 1946 to Evander and Elaine (Gunderson) Boreen in Ada, MN. He was raised on a farm near Flom, MN and attended school in Twin Valley. After his high school graduation from Twin Valley High School in 1964, Allan farmed with his parents. He went on to take over the farm where he lived his whole life. Allan was united in marriage to Patty Hamernik on June 24, 1989 at the Aspelund Lutheran Church in rural Flom. The couple was blessed with two children, Evan and Alex. After their separation in marriage, Patty continued to provide care and compassion for Allan, especially after his stroke. Allan continued to make his home on the farm where he farmed until the fall of 2017.

A farmer at heart is what Allan was most known for. He loved old tractors and driving around to check fields. He enjoyed spending time with his boys and admiring the fine, hard-working young men they had become. He looked forward to the annual Western Minnesota Steam Thrashers Reunion in Rollag, MN where he could enjoy his passion and share his stories with others. Allan also loved spending time driving his side-by-side where he could enjoy the life on the farm, driving all of the area backroads, and taking in the crops and the wildlife.

Allan is survived by his sons, Evan Boreen of Leeds, ND and Alex Boreen of Twin Valley, MN; the mother of his children, Patty Boreen of Twin Valley; two sisters, Myrna (Frank) Kenny of Newburg, ME and Darlene (Greg) Crawford of Fort Collins, CO; his nieces and nephews; as well as many long-time friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Evander and Elaine Boreen.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 19 at 11:00 AM in the Wild Rice Lutheran Church, rural Twin Valley. Burial will take place at the Wild Rice Lutheran Cemetery.
