Alivia Paige
Mortenson
Sep 20, 2001 — Jun 2, 2019
Ulen
Alivia Mortenson, age 17, died on Sunday, June 2, 2019, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
On September 20, 2001, Ronnie and Danielle (Wang) Mortenson welcomed their second daughter, Alivia Paige Mortenson, into this world. She was currently a student at the Ulen-Hitterdal Public School, where she excelled in everything, especially athletics. Alivia just completed her Junior year as a Titan and was looking forward to the summer months of coaching Summer Rec and JO Volleyball. Her love for sports began as a young child and by the 3 rd grade she was on the basketball traveling team and this passion continued to blossom into the star athlete she became, playing not only basketball but volleyball and softball as well. Alivia was a natural athlete whose talent shined in every game, giving her recognition as MVP since the 9 th grade and awarding her an invite to the MN Timberwolves Camp and the Australian Down Under League. Most recently, she was named to the All-State Team for softball. Not only did Alivia shine in athletics, but also as the genuinely kind, caring, thoughtful person she was, always putting others before herself. Alivia was a member of the choir, show choir, jazz band and the Minnesota Honor Society. She had a love for music and enjoyed dancing and performing in school musicals. Alivia was baptized at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Callaway, MN, and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen, MN. Following her confirmation, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and helping with church activities whenever time allowed. Alivia also liked to hunt, fish, cook and bake. She had a special bond with her siblings, Alexa and Cole, and younger sister, Addison, who looked up to her like a second mom. Alivia was also an intricate part of the group of seven students that have been inseparable since the 7 th grade. They liked to call themselves the "SQUAD". Her spunky yet confident attitude will be missed by many, but she will live on in their hearts forever.
Alivia is survived by her parents, Danielle (Chris Nelson) Mortenson of Hawley, MN, and Ronnie Mortenson of Ulen, MN; siblings: Alexa, Cole and Addison; grandma and grandpa, Danny and Susan Wang of Ulen and grandpa, Doug Mortenson of Lake Park, MN; aunts: Karen (Joseph) Kappes of Sioux City, IA, Angela (Peter) Fetting of Ada, MN, Deanna (Jarrod) Pahl of Moorhead, MN, Stacey (Dave) Tack of East Grand Forks, MN, Ashley (Blake) Ashmore of Hawley, Courtney (Chad) Spenst of West Fargo, ND, Madison Wang of Ulen, Tina Mortenson of Hitterdal, MN, Lori (Troy) Nappe of Moorhead, and Jewell Tow of Salinas, CA; uncles: Brandon Wang, Andrew Wang and Rick Thesing all of Ulen; as well as many cousins, extended family, friends and teammates. She was preceded in death by her grandma, Ruth Mortenson and an uncle, Tyler Wang.
Blessed be the memory of Alivia Paige Mortenson.
