Alice Schenkey, age 92, of Ada, MN, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, in Bridges Care Community, Ada.

Alice Mary Turner, the daughter of Harry and Elsie (Thiel) Turner, was born on August 31, 1919 in Ada. As a young girl, she attended country school and later graduated from Ada High School. In 1941, Alice was united in marriage to Lloyd Larson and together they were blessed with one daughter, Judy. They lived near Ada for several years before moving to the Gary, MN, area in 1948. Alice was a teacher for a time, both in country school and at the Gary Public School. After obtaining her training as a Certified Nurse's Assistant, Alice worked as a CNA in Fergus Falls, MN and at the Ada Nursing Home for many years. Alice purchased a home in Ada in the early 1970's where she lived until 1975 when she married George Schenkey. Thanks to this blessed union a new family a five as formed. Alice and George made their home Beltrami, MN until George passed away in 1983. Alice then moved back to Ada to make her home until last fall when she entered Bridges Care Community.

Alice loved to garden and cherished all of the brightly colored flowers. She was proud to be a teacher and enjoyed sharing scripture as a lector in church. Alice will also be remembered for her gift of cooking, especially treating her family to a meal of wonderful fried chicken.

Alice is survived by three children: Judy Lisburg of Gary, MN, Dean Schenkey of Beltrami, and Pamela Clark of Forest Lake, MN; six grandchildren: Susan (Mark) Hanson, Diane (Tim) Jagol, Rob (Monica) Lisburg, Gary Clark, Terry Schenkey, and Jessie Duffy; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Ray Turner of Ada; and one sister, Erna Langseth of Ada.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; two brothers, Harvey (Esther) and Earl; a brother-in-law, Emery Langseth; her son-in-law, Merrill Lisburg; and an infant granddaughter.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 1:00 PM in Grace Lutheran Church in Ada. Visitation was one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Officiating was Pastor Ken Nyhusmoen with Kris Wilkins serving as organist and Tricia Thompson serving as vocalist. Pallbearers were Rob Lisburg, Mark Hanson, Tim Jagol, Kyle Lisburg, Korey Lisburg and Terry Schenkey.

Interment was in Gary Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gary, MN
