Alice Marion Noss, age 76, of Twin Valley, MN, formerly Gary, MN, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Twin Valley Living Center.

Alice was born on March 10, 1941 to Arnold and Mildred (Gorder) Gunderson near Gary, MN. She attended school in Gary and worked as a secretary there after graduation. Alice also worked as a hired hand for area farmers, where she did housework, cooking and other chores on the farm. These talents were put to good use on the Noss family farm, where she met her husband Palmer. This was his sister's true intent when encouraging Alice to come and work for them on the family farm. To their great joy, Alice became the love of Palmer's life, and they were married on June 27, 1964 at the Ness Lutheran Church. The couple was later blessed with two children, Peter and Anne, who were her world. The couple made their home on the Noss century old farm until Alice moved to Twin Valley in 2009.

Alice liked to keep busy and balanced her time raising a family, helping on the farm and with various sewing projects for herself and others in the community. It was a true God given talent in which she blessed others with over the years. Whether it was a handmade quilt, replacing a zipper or making matching pajamas for the little ones, Alice's talent was generously shared with others. Alice loved to help others and never expected anything more than a thank you in return. This always shined through in her various jobs in the community. Over the years, Alice's hard work, warm smile and genuine compassion was enjoyed at the Gary Café, grocery store and the Gary Cenex. Alice was also active in church, ladies aid, and Sunday school. Her pride and joy was found in her family, especially time spent with her children and grandchildren

Alice is survived by her son, Peter Noss of Minneapolis, MN and daughter Anne Garrahy of Farmington, MN; five grandchildren: Grant Dunbar, Gabe, Brooklyn, Bailey, and Soren Gerrahy; four brothers: Norman Gunderson of Gary, MN, Marvin (Debbie) Gunderson of Fertile, MN, Maynard (Laurie) Gunderson of Bismark, ND, and Jerome (Ramona) Gunderson of Thompson, ND; three sisters: Pearl Johnson of Crookston, MN, Sharon (Rodney) Ramacher of Barnesville, MN, Barbara (Bill) Crocker of Grand Forks, ND, three sisters-in-law: Evelyn Michel, Adelle Noss, Maxine Noss; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother-in-law, Jerry; a sister- in-law, Phyllis; two nephews, Ryan and Brad Gunderson; and one niece, Sarah Gunderson.

A funeral will be held at 11:00am on Monday, May 8, 2017, at Ness Lutheran Church, rural Gary, MN. Visitation will take place at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm, with a Prayer Service beginning at 4:30pm. Burial will be in the Ness Lutheran Cemetery.
