Obituary

Alice Dahl, age 93, of Ada, Minnesota, died Friday, November 03, 2006, in Bridges Care Community, Ada.
Alice E. Heiraas was born August 15, 1913, at Twin Valley, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Inga (Bjerke) Heiraas. She was raised on the family farm in Hagen Township and attended country school. Alice graduated from the Borup High School with the class of 1933. As a young woman, she worked for area families doing childcare and housework. On November 28, 1936, Alice was united in marriage to James Dahl, at her parent's home. They made their home on his family's farm, rural Borup, which they operated until retirement. After James's death in 1989, Alice continued to make her home on the farm until the mid-1990's. She moved into the Valley View Apartments in Ada where she lived until 2001, when she became a resident of the Bridges Care Community in Ada, where she has made her home since.
Alice was a long time member of the Jevnaker Lutheran Church where she was active for as long as she could be. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and cooking. Alice loved spending time with her family and did so whenever she could.
She is survived by two daughters, Sarah (Richard) Loktu of Park Rapids, MN, and Enid (David) Andreasen of Ada, MN; three sons, Howard (Maren) of Alexandria, MN, James (Shirley) of Edina, MN, and Clark (Jennifer) of Silverton, OR; three sisters, Ordella Eastvold of Glydon, MN, Marcy (Earl) Hillstead of Hitterdal, MN, and Melva Flesjer of Stanwood, WA; one brother, Aldus (Lynn) Heiraas of Detroit Lakes, MN; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, 3 sisters, 1 brother, 1 great-granddaughter and 1 son-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at 11:00am in the Jevnaker Lutheran Church, rural Borup, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00pm to 3:30pm in Bridges Care Community, Ada, MN and also from 5:00pm until 7:00pm in the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley, MN. Pastor Ron Erickson will officiate with Bethany Mathsen at the piano. Her pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren. Interment will be in the Jevnaker Lutheran Cemetery.
