Alice Carlson, age 84 of Winger, Minnesota, died on Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Care Center in Waterville, Minnesota.
Alice Carlson was born on October 15, 1924 to Oscar and Inga (Evenson) Snustad in Sletten Township, Minnesota. Alice was raised on the family farm, baptized and confirmed in her faith at Dovre Church. Alice attended Lone Tree grade school and graduated from McIntosh High School in 1942.
Following graduation she worked on the family farm and also did accounting and bookwork for her uncle, Olaf Snustad, in Winger.
On August 5, 1950 Alice was united in marriage to Bill Carlson in Winger. Following their union the couple made their home in Winger where they have since lived.
Alice had a passion for family history and genealogy. Extensive endless research has provided pictures and documents dating back many generations. Also, in keeping with her heritage, her Hardanger skills are known by many.
Alice is survived by one daughter, Annette (Doug) Swedberg, Waterville, Minnesota; one son, Richard (Sharon) Carlson, Plymouth, Minnesota; one sister, Mabel Dorn, Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren: Jennifer Swedberg, Jacob (Elizabeth) Carlson, Katrina Swedberg, Adam Carlson, Stephanie Swedberg, and Kimberly Swedberg; and several nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; two sisters, Celestine Fowlds and Marge Scheftel and one brother, Robert Snustad.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, Winger. Visitation will take place on Friday, April 24, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Winger.
