Alfred "Tubby" Olson, age 78, of Gary, Minnesota, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006, in his home.

Alfred Norris Olson was born August 25, 1928, the son of Alfred and Nora (Lea) Olson in Waukon Township near Gary, Minnesota. He attended school at Gary High School, graduating with the class of 1946. Tubby spent his entire life on the Olson farm, and was a devoted member of Ness Lutheran Church where he served in various capacities. Tubby loved good music, and for many years sang in the Ness Choir. He also played accordion for the enjoyment of many people.

Tubby is survived by a sister, Edna and brother-in-law, DeFloren Rude of Gary, MN; a niece, Ruthann (Frank) Mazrim of Springfield, IL; nephews, John (Rev. De) Pederson of St. Cloud, MN, Bob (Kay) Pederson of Brainerd, MN, Mark (Ann) Pederson of Minneapolis, MN, Ronald (Karen) Rude of Plains, MT, Steve (Karen) Rude of Moorhead, MN, Michael (Jane) Rude of Cambridge, MN: 17 great nieces and nephews and six great-great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ruth.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 11:00 AM in Ness Lutheran Church, rural Gary. Visitation were one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Officiating was Pastor Jeff McCracken with Alden Anderson serving as organist and family members providing special music. Pallbearers were Scott Hagy, Avery Sirjord, Randal Gorder, Phillip Halland, Donald Matson and Barry Halland. Honorary pallbearers were his neice and all of his nephews.

Interment was in Ness Lutheran Cemetery, Gary, MN.
