Obituary

Agnes "Aggie" Bestul, age 93, of Winger, MN, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at her home.

Agnes Luella Iverson was born at home in Garden Township on April 13, 1921, the daughter of Lars and Bertha (Baglien) Iverson. Growing up she attended Pleasant View Country School #101. At a young age, Agnes was united in marriage to Peder Bestul in Fertile, MN, on November 20, 1937. The couple made their home on a farm southwest of Winger and began their family. In 1959, Peder and Aggie moved two miles west to the farm they lived on til there death. Together, they farmed small grains and raised cattle. Aggie worked alongside Peder helping with the daily chores and operation of the farm. Peder died in June of 1987 and Aggie remained on the farm until the time of her death. She continued to keep busy with the farm, even keeping cattle until 1995.

A shy and quiet, yet resourceful and hardworking individual are all words to describe Aggie. She lived a simple life and was much more a giver than a taker. She always had a variety of snacks to offer including homemade bread and cookies when you visited. Aggie enjoyed having company, but don't come during the "Price is Right"! She also liked reading the paper, listening to music, going through the cattle barns at the Polk County Fair and gopher trapping in her younger years.

Aggie is survived by a daughter-in-law, Joyce Bestul, Fertile, MN; two grandchildren, Ron Bestul, Winger and Jackie Solberg (Fiance, DelRay), Holt, MN; four great-grandchildren, Steven, Rueben, Jessica and Shandelle; one great-great-grandson, Kaden; three step great-great-grandchildren; half brother, Kenneth (Delores) Dalby, Fertile; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Iverson and Mary Iverson, both of Winger; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Peder, Aggie was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Pearl; a son, LeRoy; two granddaughters, Patty and Jody; four brothers: Palmer, Carol, Lloyd, and Ernie; and one sister, Amelia.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Faaberg Lutheran Church, Rindal, MN. Visitation was on Monday, July 7th from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and continued one hour prior to the funeral all at Faaberg Lutheran Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
