Adorine Gay
Bennes
Aug 8, 1929 — Aug 30, 2020
Adorine Bennes, mother and grandmother, died August 30, 2020 at the Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile, MN. Adorine was born August 8, 1929 to George Johnson and Mildred (Oswald) Johnson. She was the second of seven children. She graduated from Fertile High School in 1947 and was united in marriage to Earlin Bennes on November 30, 1950. She moved to the Bennes family farm where she and Earlin raised five daughters and also her younger brother George. She was a faithful member of Faaberg Lutheran Church. Adorine patiently taught her daughters to bake, sew, cook and passed on her love for music and reading to each of them. In 1999, Adorine and Earlin purchased a house in Fertile and enjoyed the company of surrounding neighbors and friends.
She is survived by her five daughters, Rita (Keith) Lee, Debbie Bennes, Diane Erickson, Lori (Dick) Stevens, and Amy (Ole) Van Den Einde; nine grandchildren, Kirsten (Joe), Nate, Dana (Shane), Hayley, Olivia (Marshall), Robert (Kayla), Abby, Bart, and Michelle (Mason); 11 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Lois Walters and Dr. Graydon (Judy) Johnson; brother-in-law, Dale LaRoque; and numerous nieces and nephews that she held dear throughout her life. She also had a special friendship with Jax Horgeshimer, who was so good to Grandma Adorine. In addition to her parents, Adorine was preceded in death by her husband, Earlin; brothers, William, George and James Johnson; sister, Mavis LaRoque and son-in-law, Tom Erickson.
A special thank you to her daughter Amy, who lovingly took care of mom as she declined in health. Your sisters are forever grateful to you.
