Adeline Hirsch, age 99, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Saturday, June 17, 2006, at the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.

Adeline Peterson was born March 24, 1907, in Faith, Minnesota, to Oscar and Annie (Hanson) Peterson. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Faith. Adeline attended and graduated from Mahnomen High School in Mahnomen, Minnesota. She then attended Moorhead Normal College, after which she taught country school in the Faith area. On June 4, 1925, Adeline married Albert Hirsch and the couple made their home on a farm near Waukon, Minnesota. She worked hand in hand on the farm with Albert while raising their family. After Albert's death in 1977, she stayed on the farm for awhile until moving into Mahnomen. Adeline moved into the Twin Valley Living Center in 1993, where she continued to make her home.

Adeline was a very active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church through the years, teaching Sunday school, attending Ladies Aide, and planning for and singing at both weddings and funerals. As a young woman she loved to dance, especially square dancing with Albert. She enjoyed fishing on area lakes and family camping trips. She was a wonderful gardener and tended each of her flowers and vegetables with loving care. She often canned her produce as well as many other foods. Adeline made many memories preparing for and hosting a 4th of July picnic each summer. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Adeline is survived by one daughter, Clareen (Lester) Eklund, of Brainerd, MN; two sons, Alden (Shirley) and Del (Carolyn), both of Delano, MN; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Hazelle Luke, of Atlanta, GA.

Along with her husband, Adeline was preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law, Avis and F.N. Moen; and infant son, Delbert; one grandson, Douglas Hirsch; and two brothers, Lawrence and Olaf Peterson.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Faith, with Pastor H. William Beyer officiating. Karen Carlsrud will serve as organist with Jon and Joanne Peterson singing. Their accompaniast will be Diane Thompson. Serving as pallbearers will be Duane Hirsch, Kelly Hirsch, Troy Hirsch, Ronald Peterson, Terry Thompson, and Lyle "Orrie" Klemetson. All of Adeline's grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and godchildren will serve as honorary bearers.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM, all at the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Interment will take place at St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery in Faith.
