Obituary

Ada Burnette, age 77, of Naytahwaush, MN, died on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji, MN.

Ada Beaulieu, daughter of Henry and Julia (Morgan) Beaulieu, was born September 14, 1938, in White Earth, MN. She grew up in Naytahwaush and for a short time attended boarding school in Flandreau, SD. Ada was united in marriage to Edward Burnette in 1962 and the couple was blessed with eight children. They made their home together in Naytahwaush. Over the years, Ada held various jobs including peeling pulp, home health aide, EMT and a seamstress at White Earth Garment Factory. In later years, she even worked at the casino in general maintenance. Ada and Eddie also spent over twenty years making beautiful birch bark crafts. They often sold their artwork for "casino money" as trips to the casino were by far her favorite pastime. Together they enjoyed time in the woods peeling birch bark and cutting wood. Many hours were also spent leeching, ricing, fishing and berry picking. Eddie passed away in 2012 and Ada remained in her home until her death.

Ada is survived by three sons: Terry, Shannon and Shane, all of Naytahwaush; two daughters, Julie Burnette and Gina (Pat Londo) Burnette both of Naytahwaush; one daughter-in-law, Mary Burnette, Naytahwaush; one brother, Isaac Littlewolf, Naytahwaush; three sisters: Victoria Wichern, Waubun, Linda Littlewolf, Naytahwaush, and Germaine "Dolly" Johnson, Ada, MN; 29 grandchildren, 50+ great-grandchildren, cousins and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Ada was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Edward "Butchie" Sr.; two daughters, Noreen and Cheryl; four grandchildren; one great—granddaughter and five siblings.

Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Samuel Memorial Episcopal Church in Naytahwaush, MN. Visitation was held Friday from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral at the church. Burial was in the Samuel Memorial Episcopal Cemetery in Naytahwaush.
